LID SERVICE 1.0
Close your lids.
100% FREEWARE

A tiny Mac menu bar app that keeps the Mac running with its lid closed.
For Apple silicon Macs (M1 and later), macOS 13 or newer.

GET STARTED
1. Drag Lid Service.app to your Applications folder and open it.
2. This release is not Apple-notarized. If macOS blocks it, first try opening
the app, then use System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway.
3. Approve the administrator prompt to install its sleep helper once.
Your password is not stored. Accessibility permission is not needed.
Normal launches do not ask again. A helper update may need approval again.
4. Look for the lips in your Mac's menu bar. It starts active.

CONTROLS
Click: pause or resume. Bright lips mean active; dim lips mean paused.
Right-click (or Control-click): current status and Quit.
Active: Running with lid closed.
Paused: Sleeping with lid closed.
Quit restores normal sleep before the app exits.

GOOD TO KNOW
The display can still turn off. Work continues while Lid Service is active.
Keep your Mac ventilated. An empty battery still shuts it down.
Closed-lid operation was tested on an M2 Pro MacBook Pro.
Normal app exit and app-crash cleanup were tested locally. The helper
restores sleep if the app crashes; forcibly killing both processes can
prevent cleanup. Lid Service refuses to take over an existing sleep override.

REMOVAL
Run Uninstall Lid Service.command from this folder. Approve its administrator
prompt to remove the saved permission and helper, then delete the app.
Simply quitting leaves only the inactive helper installation and permission.

SHARING
This app is free to use and share. Share the original ZIP so the readme and
uninstaller travel with it. No account, subscriptions, or app tracking.
Provided as-is, without warranty.
